What is colour Blindness
Colour blindness is the inability to differentiate certain colours. The most typical form is red green colour blindness however other types include blue yellow and many more, and nearly all affected individuals are male. This relates of the fact that men only have one X chromosome, where women have two.
Red green colour blindness affects about 95% of all colour blind people. The remaining 5% is composed of blue yellow , and less commonly total colour blindness.
Within each colour deficiency is the possibility of being either partially blind to that colour, or totally. For instance green deficient is more common, but being completely unable to see red is second most common. The standard test is known as the Ishihara colour Test. This test was created by Dr Shinobu at the University of Tokyo several years ago and has remained the standard.
